My name is Henry Griner and along with my wife of 38 years Leslie and I own Mission Springs LLC which is our own home business located in Elk River, Minnesota.

For the past 14 years I have been heavily involved with information technology using computers and the Internet. After years of helping find solutions for my employers I decided to start my own home business in late 2005. I spent all of 2006 and 2007 learning how the Technology of Internet Marketing works for me and also so I could distill the concepts down into understandable pieces for others that do not have the “techie” background that I have.

If you are struggling with trying to figure out how to use computers and the Internet to build your own home business I want to help you. But before I get into that, I would like to give you some background about me.

I grew up in Duluth, Minnesota and met Leslie there while working at the only Target store in the area. After high school I enrolled in the Minnesota Air National Guard and served at the Duluth Air National Guard Base as a still photographer. We were married in 1970 and lived in Minneapolis for a short time before moving to Elk River.

Leslie and I have 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. Our youngest son Jared is still living at home and will be going into high school in the fall of 2008. We have one grand child, little Zarah living in Germany with our second son who is stationed there with the US Army.

I guess you could say that I am a dreamer, maybe even a day-dreamer. When we were first married I remember Leslie and I talking about how cool it would be if we could both have jobs that gave us lots of free time to do things and be together.

When we were married I was working as a television news photographer in Minneapolis covering news and sports stories. That was really fun and interesting but soon I started to think about having my own business… a photography business. That was the start of my first entrepreneurial venture. With no business training or skills our first home business doing wedding photography and portraits soon ended.

Over the next twenty five years or so my desire to have the freedom both in time and money that can come with owning a business lead me to either partner in or start several other ventures all of which were less than successful. But, I never did lose that dream of having the freedom that our own home business could provide.

In 1994 after closing down a kitchen and bathroom refinishing business I learned that I was qualified to take state funded schooling as part of a Displaced Workers program. Having never attended more than two quarters of college Leslie and I agreed that it would be good for me to finally get college training for a skill that could help me earn a good income. So I signed up and was accepted to a Business Management program in a local community college.

If you know anything about the history of the Internet the year 1994 was one that was marked by explosive growth of the new WWW (World Wide Web) lead by the new Mosiac web browser application which was the predecessor of Netscape founded by Jim Clark. It would still be several months before Bill Gates and his team would “catch on” and create the first Microsoft web browser, Internet Explorer.

The community college that I attended had just installed a new high-speed campus wide Internet connection a month before I started attending. Several of my business classes were focused on computers, which I new little about before attending the college. In one of the classes that I had in the winter quarter I learned about Microsoft PowerPoint and had a project to put together a presentation using PowerPoint.

I built my PowerPoint presentation around the topic of the newly emerging Internet applications and the WWW. My instructor was very impressed not only by what I put together but the fact that in a short time I had learned more about the Internet and the current tools then any of the teachers on the campus.

My instructor encouraged me to talk with the director at the Continuing Education office and offer to teach a class about the Internet to others. So, without a college degree and with less than a year of college myself, I became a part-time instructor not only at this college but also a neighboring college that wanted me to teach about the Internet also.

About this same time I stopped by my local bank one day and talked with a staff member about what I was doing teaching classes about the Internet. This lead to me being hired by my bank to build their first website and making them the second bank in Minnesota to have a website.

I never did go back to school in the fall as later in the summer of 1995 I was hired by a local technology company to help develop websites for their clients and work with installing and maintaining computer systems. That was how I got my start with “hands-on” experience learning about computers, networking, and the Internet.

Leslie and I are approaching that big number ’60 in a couple years when most folks our age are thinking and planning for retirement. Right now, retirement is the furtherest thing from our minds. Our primary goal for Mission Springs is to provide the income freedom and time freedom for us to work at our church, to travel for church mission work and to travel on vacations with our children. We helped to start our church over 17 years ago and I have served as one of the elders, or church leaders, since that time.

The name Mission Springs is a reflection of our desire to serve in mission and church work believing that the funds to do so will flow to us like a spring of water as we serve and help others to build their dreams.

I believe that by aligning myself and our business with successful online and off-line business professionals, learning from them and building up my own marketing skills from their mentoring that I will be able to pass along to others the knowledge needed to see them become successful also.

Over the past two years I have had the opportunity to attend several conferences, seminars and workshops focusing on many aspects of the Internet Marketing business. While attending these events I have met many people who now have very successful online businesses and many of them have attended “Million Dollar” sales levels.

Through the contacts I have made I know that building an online business is possible but, not everyone will be successful in this venture just like not everyone who tries to start a “brick and mortar” off-line business is successful.

I want to work with those who are positive, teachable and coachable who have a high desire to succeed not only for themselves but to generate wealth that can be shared with others. You do not need to look far to find others in need.

One of my passions is to support disaster relief efforts where people’s lives have been turned upside down as a result of natural and even man-made disasters. For over 7 years I have been trained and serve as a National Weather Service Skywarn Storm Spotter as part of the national network of Amateur Radio Operators (HAMS) who volunteer our time to help to provide early warning for tornadoes and other weather related events.

Working with others who have a desire to use their financial resources to help those in need is a key value that I want my business associates and team members to have.

Big houses, fast and expensive cars, exotic vacations and the other trappings of the wealthy are not goals that turn us on. We want to be good stewards of the gifts that God has entrusted to us. We are looking for others with similar motives.

So, what is the business focus for Mission Springs?

In my first couple years of working PT online the most successful business area for me was Affiliate Marketing, selling other peoples products and services. I was able to make several thousand dollars as an affiliate but, that was not enough for me to quit my full-time work as the Information Technology Manager for the largest furniture store in Minnesota.

In 2007 I helped my friend and mentor Jeff Mills with his second Midwest Internet Marketing Super Conference as his affiliate manager. Then, in the winter of 2007 Jeff started talking with me about expanding his business and asked me to consider joining him as his project manager. We decided that March 1, 2008 would be the beginning of my new working arrangement with Jeff.

My wife and I soon understood that saying yes to Jeff’s offer was in line with God’s plans for us. On Monday, February 25th I went to work at my job as the Information Technology Manager at the furniture business where I was met at the doorway by my supervisor and the HR Manager. My job was cut and I was to leave right away. They did offer me a nice severance package, much better than what I would have received by giving them notice myself which I was planning to do in about 14 days. God is GOOD!

Besides working with Jeff Mills I plan to continue to work with some affiliate programs that have been financially rewarding in the past. I will also devote much of my time to building my team with our newest product, Global Resorts Network.
